Question : Number of Slums

(a) the number of people living in slums in the country, State-wise including West Bengal, Maharashtra and Parliamentary Constituency Amravati;

(b) the number of slums demolished during the last three years and the amount of rehabilitation compensation given, State and year-wise and the details in respect of Parliamentary Constituency Amravati;

(c) the details of the funds used for the construction of low cost houses during the last three years and the number of houses constructed so far, State and year-wise; and

(d) the amount of funds allocated, approved and released to Parliamentary Constituency Amravati for the construction of houses and the number of houses constructed during the last three years, State and year-wise?

(a): As per Census 2011, 6.54 crore people are living in slums in the country. The State-wise details of people living in slums including West Bengal and Maharashtra including Amravati are at Annexure-I.

(b): Land and colonization are State subjects. Therefore, schemes related to slums are implemented by State/ Union Territories (UTs). Data pertaining to number of slums demolished and amount of rehabilitation compensation released in the country is not maintained by this Ministry.

(c): The details of the fund used for the construction of low cost houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-U) during the last three years State-wise and year-wise and the number of houses constructed is at Annexure-II.

(d): The details of funds sanctioned and released to Parliamentary Constituency Amravati for the construction of houses during the last three years and the number of constructions is at Annexure- III.
