Question : Delhi-Agra Waterways

(a) whether any time frame has been set by the Government for the completion of the Delhi-Agra waterway;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the details of agencies empanelled by the Government to finance Delhi-Agra waterway; and

(d) the estimated cost of the project and the revenue model, if any, for the recovery of the expenditure?

Answer given by the minister

(a) & (b) River Yamuna from Jagatpur (6 km upstream of Wazirabad Barrage), Delhi to confluence of Yamuna and Ganga rivers at Sangam, Prayagraj (which include the waterway stretch from Delhi to Agra) was declared as National Waterway-110 (NW-110) under the National Waterways Act, 2016. Detailed Project Report (DPR) of NW-110 to assess the techno-economic feasibility of the project was completed in January, 2020. As per DPR, the project has not been found viable.

(c) & (d) In view of the reply to parts (a) & (b) above, questions do not arise.
