Question : Facilities in Reserve Forests

(a) whether the Government has taken any steps to develop roads and lodging facilities in Reserve Forest Areas to attract foreign tourists so that funds collected through it could be utilised for undertaking forest related works;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a)to (c)There is no such programme of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for development of roads and lodging facilities in Reserve Forest Areas to attract foreign tourists, as this is not the primary objective of management of forests. However, the Ministry provides financial assistance under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes for sustainable management, protection and development of forest areas including protected areas to State/ UT Governments.
