(a) to (e) As per Rule 14 of Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986, every person carrying on an industry, operation or process requiring consent under Section 25 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 (6 of 1974) or under Section 21 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 (14 of 1981) or both or authorization under the Hazardous and other Wastes (Management and Transboundary) Rules, 2016 issued under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 are required to submit an Environment Statement for the financial year ending the 31st March in Form V to the concerned State Pollution Control Board / Pollution Control Committee on or before the (30th day of September) every year.
The environment statement is a tool for self-assessment by industries to know the level of environmental protection measures taken on temporal basis. The resource conservation, energy consumption, water conservation, waste generation and managements and financial expenditure are some of the indicator used to assess the measures taken control pollution and improve environment. Therefore, at present, there is no sector specific format (Form V).
The environment statements are collected and maintained by concerned SPCBs/PCCs as per provisions of Rule-14 of Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986 and the Central Government do not maintain any such data.
