THE MINISTER OF STATE OF THE MINISTRY OF FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES( SHRI SUBODHKANT SAHAI )

(a) & (d): Under the Scheme for Technology Upgradation / establishment / modernization of food processing industries, this Ministry offers financial assistance for setting up of food processing units including wine units. The assistance is released in the form of grant of 25% of the cost of plant & machinery and technical civil works subject to maximum of Rs. 50 lakhs in general areas and 33.33% upto Rs. 75 lakhs in difficult areas. Similarly, under the Scheme for Infrastructure development, assistance upto Rs. 4.00 crores for setting up food park/wine park for provision of common facilities like cold storage, food testing laboratory, effluent treatment plant, common processing facilities, power, water supply etc., is admissible so that small and medium enterprises could set up their units easily. The production of wine, would benefit grape farmers through better prices, generate employment in wine units and facilitate weaning people away from consumption of hard liquor.
