CENTRAL ASSISTANCE UNDER PMS SCHEME
3252. SHRI LAVU SRI KRISHNA DEVARAYALU:
Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the Central Assistance released under Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Caste Students (PMS-SC) scheme since 2015 for Andhra Pradesh;
(b) whether the number of beneficiaries under PMS-SC in Andhra Pradesh has been declining since 2016-17;
(c) if so, the reasons therefor;
(d) the details of the Central Assistance released under Pre Matric scholarship scheme for Other Backaward Classes (OBC) students since 2015 for Andhra Pradesh;
(e) whether the number of beneficiaries under Pre Matric Scholarship scheme for OBC stundents in Andhra Pradesh has been declining since 2018-19; and
(f) if so, the reasons therefor?

(a): The details of Central Assistance released under Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Caste students (PMS-SC) scheme since 2015 is as under:

(b) & (c): The scheme is open ended and all eligible students are entitled to get scholarship under the scheme. The number of beneficiaries reported by the State under PMS-SC in Andhra Pradesh is as under :-

2020-21 Registrations are still open, since admissions got delayed due to COVID-19.

*This includes the intermediate students covered under the AmmaVodi State scheme.

(d): The details of the Central assistance released under Pre-Matric scholarship scheme for Other
Backward Classes (OBC) students since 2015 for Andhra Pradesh is as under:

(e) & (f): Number of beneficiaries intimated by the States for a particular year usually includes the number of beneficiaries assisted for the previous year as well as the beneficiaries assisted from their own fund. Therefore, it cannot be conclusively said that beneficiaries in Andhra Pradesh are declining since 2018-19.
