Question : ANALYSIS OF EXTERNAL LOAN APPLICATIONS



(a) Whether there is any system in place in the department to analysis the need of taking loan from International Monetary Fund, World Bank and various financial institutions, their usage and profit and loss occurred from it.

(b) if so, the separate analysis of loan taken during the last three years; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor and the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) Yes, Sir.

(b) Government of India currently does not borrow from International Monetary Fund. GOI borrows from Multilateral Development Banks such as World Bank (IBRD and IDA), Asian Development Bank and JICA, etc. The assistance comes in the form of long gestation low interest/concessional loans not normally available in the market, as may be seen from the list of projects for last three years annexed herewith.
