Question : Social Welfare Schemes

(a) the details of social welfare schemes being implemented in various States of the country particularly in Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh;

(b) whether there is any special scheme for the weaker sections of the country particularly for Scheduled Castes, Women, Children and Weaker Sections/BPL people in the country;

(c) if so, the names of such schemes and the details of the quantum of funds allocated and spent on said schemes during the last five years, State-wise; and

(d) the monitoring mechanism to check whether the benefits under these schemes are reaching the needy persons?

(a) to (c): The mandate of this Department is to implement of the schemes of educational, economic and social empowerment of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Senior Citizens, victims of Drug Abuse, transgenders, Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNTs). The details of major schemes being implemented by this Ministry and quantum of funds allocated in States/UTs are given at Annexure-I and Annexure –II respectively.

(d). Regular meetings/conferences, Field Visits, Video Conferences are held with the representatives of the State Govt./UT Administration and other implementing agencies for effective implementation and proper utilization of the funds released by the Union Government and to ensure that the benefits under these Schemes reach to the needy persons.
