(a) whether the Central Information Commission, in its Annual Report, has recommended
that Public Information Officers posted in the Government departments be accorded the status of the Officer of the Commission;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and
(c) the measures taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b): The Central Information Commission in its Annual Report for the year 2005-06 has
recommended that the Public Information Officers should be considered as officers of the
Central Information Commission.
(c): The Right to Information Act, 2005 contains provisions enabling the Public Information
Officers to work objectively and fearlessly.
