(a) whether the Government has formulated any policy to curb the unbridled growth of Invitro Fertilization (IVF) centres;

(b) if so,the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has received any report from the Former Director-General, ICMR regarding IVF techniques;

(d) if so,the details thereof;and

(e) the time by which this report is likely to be implemented?

(a) & (b) To supervise and regulate the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Clinics in India, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of India along with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) developed “National Guidelines for Accreditation, Supervision and Regulation of ART Clinics in India.” These guidelines are available on the website of the MOHFW, Government of India (www.mohfw.nic.in).

(c) to (e) The National Guidelines for Accreditation, Supervision & Regulation of ART Clinics in India was developed by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India alongwith ICMR during the tenure of former Director-General,ICMR.

The ART Guidelines have been circulated to all States/UTs of the country with the direction for following the Guidelines.
