Question : INTER-STATE RECRUITMENT RACKET



(a) whether the Government is aware of the facts that many interstate rackets for recruitment in army on the basis of fake documents are active in the country;

(b) if so, the number of such rackets have been unearthed recently;

(c) the number of persons arrested; and

(d) the action taken against them?

(a) & (b): There were news items that between 22-25 June, 2004 while an open recruitment rally was carried out by the Independent Recruiting Office (IRO), Delhi, some touts were apprehended who were issuing forged domicile, caste and character certificates for recruitment away from the recruitment area in Delhi Cantonment. The matter has however, been investigated by Headquarter Delhi Area, through Military Agencies in liaison with civil police. No connection has been found between the touts and the Army Recruiting staff so far.

(c) & (d): In this case 4 persons were arrested and all are in judicial custody.
