(a): Madam, for the development and promotion of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and to enhance their
competitiveness, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is implementing various schemes/ programmes
in the area of credit, technology, skill development and marketing. The major schemes/ programmes include Prime Minister`s
Employment Generation Programme, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme, Credit Guarantee Scheme, Credit Linked
Capital Subsidy Scheme, Performance and Credit Rating Scheme, Cluster Development Programme, Market Development Assistance
Scheme and Entrepreneurship & Skill Development Programme.

(c): As per the Fourth All India Census of the MSMEs, the details of employment generated in million person days
during last three years and current year, are as follows:

As per the 66th Round of National Sample Survey (2009-10), the total employment estimated in the country in 2009-10 was
400.08 million person days (current daily status).
The share of total employment in the country generated by the MSME sector in 2009-10 thus works out to 17.3%.
(d): The employment generated by the MSME sector has been increasing at about 5% per year.
