Question : Poverty Alleviation in Maharashtra

(a) whether the Union Government has received any proposal regarding the poverty alleviation and creation of employment in Maharashtra during the last three years;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the number of proposals that have been approved;

(c) the proposals still to be approved and the reasons for the delay in approving those proposals; and

(d) the action taken by the Government to approve the pending proposals and the outcome thereof?

(a): No, Sir. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is, however, implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme viz. “Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM)” in the statutory towns to reduce poverty and vulnerability of urban poor households by enabling them access to gainful self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities for improvement in their livelihoods on a sustainable basis, facilitating subsidised credit, building strong grassroot level community institutions for the urban poor, providing shelter equipped with essential services for the urban homeless, and addressing livelihood concerns of the urban street vendors by facilitating access to suitable vending spaces, institutional credit, social security, etc. Since 2014-15, Rs. 372.40 crore has been released to Maharashtra for implementation of DAY-NULM.
(b) to (d): Does not arise in view of (a) above.
