(a) whether the Government proposes to open Jan Aushadhi Outlets in district hospitals for
providing medicines at affordable prices to common man;
(b) if so, the plan for its operation, set up and the target for near future along with the
current status thereof; and
(c) the efforts being made by the Government to increase the basket of medicines being
supplied to Jan Aushadhi Outlets?

(a) to (c): Yes, Sir. 154 Jan Aushadhi Drug Stores have been opened in various States / UTs till
31.3.13. 319 medicines are listed for sale at these stores. A revised plan to open 3000 more drug
stores during the 12th Five Year Plan including increasing the basket of medicines is under active
consideration of the Government.
