Question : Accreditation of Academies

(a) the number of applications received from various academies for accreditation;

(b) the number of academies that have been accredited after a due process of accreditation;

(c) the monitoring mechanism for funding such Khelo India Academy;

(d) the provisions to make them financially accountable?

(a) A total of 366 applications have been received from various Central/State/Private academies for accreditation under Khelo India Scheme as on date.

(b) A total of 236 academies have been accreditated after the due process under the Khelo India Scheme.

(c) to (d) The Khelo India accreditated academies are being funded based on the enrolment of Khelo India Athletes. As per the norms of Khelo India Scheme, the maximum funding of ? 6.28 lakhs per annum per residential Khelo India Athlete is provided to the accreditated academies. The provisions of General Financial Rules (GFRs), including requirement of Utilisation Certificates, are followed while releasing the grants.
