Question : EXECUTION OF NATIONAL HIGHWAYS PROJECTS



(a) whether execution of various projects under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) during the Eleventh Five Year Plan period was subjected to any review and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government has received any proposal from the State Government of Odisha for acquisition of land for construction of by-passes near the congested towns on National Highway No. 26 during the current year and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether any priority has been given for completion of by-passes especially in the tribal districts of Kalahandi, Bolangir and Koraput in the State; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (a) TO (d) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 425 FOR ANSWER ON 07.05.2012 ASKED BY SHRI ARJUN CHARAN SETHI REGARDING EXECUTION OF NATIONAL HIGHWAYS PROJECTS

(a) Yes, Madam. Review of various projects under the National Highways Authority of India is an ongoing process. The projects have been reviewed from time to time at various levels. Periodical review meetings have been conducted with State Governments at the highest level.

(b) No, Madam.

(c) & (d) Based on the proposals of the State Government of Odisha, Consultancy Services for Feasibility Study and Detailed Project Reports of five bypasses namely Bolangir, Titilagarh, Boriguma, Jaypore and Koraput in the Kalahandi, Bolangir and Koraput districts of Odisha have been sanctioned and alignment plans for the same have been approved by the Ministry.
