(a) whether the Union Government has received any proposals from the State Governments including the
State Governments of Orissa and Madhya Pradesh for setting up a Tribal University in the States; and
(b) if so, the details thereof and the present status of the proposals?

(a) & (b) No Sir. However, the Government of Orissa did submit a proposal for opening of a Regional
Centre of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) in Kandhmal district. Since the University
has the power to establish such number of Regional Centres in various tribal areas of the country as
are, in the opinion of the University, necessary for the furtherance of its objects, the proposal
has been forwarded to IGNTU for appropriate action at their end.
