Question : TOURIST POLICE FOR FOREIGN TOURISTS IN DELHI



(a) whether the Government has chalked out any plan for the safety of foreign tourists in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to set up any tourist police in Delhi; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) and (b): All States/UTs have been advised to initiate action for constitution and deployment of Tourist Police Force at all major tourist centres. Out of 35 States/UTs, 9 States viz., Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Goa and Delhi have deployed Tourist Police Force at all the tourist centres for the safety of foreign tourists.

(c) and (d): Yes, Sir. Delhi Police has started Tourist Police for providing assistance to foreign as well as domestic tourists at the following tourists centres viz., IGI Airport, New Delhi Railway Station (both sides), Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, Raj Ghat, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Palika Bazar, Janpath and India Gate.

PUC is a Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No.3665 dated 23/8/2004 asked by Shri Chandra Sekhar Dubey, Shri Kailash Meghwal, Dr. Col. (Retd.) Dhani Ram Shandil and Shri K.S. Rao regarding Tourist Police for foreign tourists in Delhi.
