Question : REHABILITATION OF CARBIDE VICTIMS



(a) whether the Planning Commission has approved a package of Rs. 982.75 crore for the second phase of rehabilitation in the area near the Union Carbide Corporation situated in Bhopal; and

(b) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): The GOM (Group of Ministers) which had been constituted to examine all the issues relating to Bhopal Gas Leak Disaster and to make appropriate recommendations regarding relief and rehabilitation of Bhopal Gas Victims and their families, recommended, after taking into account the views of the Planning Commission, a Plan of Action amounting to Rs.272.75 crore, which was approved by the Cabinet. The details of this are given as below:
