Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has any proposal to provide financial assistance for construction of private hospitals in the rural areas to improve healthcare facilities in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): There is no proposal to provide financial assistance for construction of private hospitals in the rural areas under NHM.
(b) & (c): Public Health and hospitals being a State subject, the primary responsibility to provide healthcare services to its people lies with the respective State/UT Governments. However, under the National Health Mission (NHM), financial and technical support is provided to States/UTs to strengthen their healthcare systems for provision of accessible, affordable and quality health care to all the citizens particularly to be vulnerable population.
