Question : Historical and Religious Fairs

(a) whether the Government provides financial assistance to promote historical and religious fairs organised in different parts of the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to promote Kalpvasis’ ‘Ramnagariya Mela’ organized on the banks of the river Ganga during the month of Magha in Farrukhabad; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) Ministry of Culture does not provide financial assistance to promote historical and religious fairs organized in different parts of the country. However, to protect, promote and preserve various forms of folk art and culture throughout the country, the Government of India has set up seven Zonal Cultural Centres (ZCCs) with headquarters at Patiala, Nagpur, Udaipur, Prayagraj, Kolkata, Dimapur and Thanjavur. These ZCCs organize various cultural activities and programmes on regular basis all over India.

(c) & (d) Uttar Pradesh is the member State of North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC), Prayagraj and provides cultural support to various festivals and fairs including Ramnagariya Mela at Farrukhabad. NCZCC sponsors cultural troupes of folk artists on specific demand of the Ramnagariya Mela Authorities. In the past also, NCZCC has participated in this Mela during the year 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2016-17.
