Question : Pending Proposals

(a) total number of proposals received from the State Government of Maharashtra by the Union Government during the last three years relating to mining activities;

(b) the number out of them approved along with the number of those still pending; and

(c) the steps taken to approve the pending proposals at the earliest?

(a) The State Governments grant mineral concessions for the minerals located within their respective boundaries under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) (MMDR) Act, 1957 and rules made there under. During the last three years, three proposals related to mining activities, one proposal regarding prior approval for grant of Composite License under Rule 16 of the Mineral (Auction) Rules 2015, one proposal for area relaxation under Section 6 of the MMDR Act and one proposal for area reservation under Section 17 of the MMDR Act, have been received by the Ministry of Mines from State Government of Maharashtra.
(b) & (c) The proposal for area relaxation for limestone mineral was approved by Ministry of Mines on 15.06.2017. The proposal for prior approval for grant of Composite License was considered and the State Government was advised to complete the work related to mineralization before taking up for auction. The proposal for area reservation is under consideration in the Ministry of Mines.
