(a) whether the Union Government proposes to amend Indian Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure to suit the present conditions in the country to stop misuse of atrocity case related laws;
(b) if so, whether the views of the States have been sought;
(c) if so, the response received and considered so far in this regard; and
(d) the present status of the amendments?

(a) to (d): Amendment to Criminal laws is a continuous process which is based on wider stakeholder consultations. Accordingly, views of various stakeholders including State Governments have been sought. The suggestions received are subject to examination by the Ministry of Home Affairs in consultation with all stakeholders.
