Question : NATIONAL CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION AUTHORITY



(a) whether there is any proposal to set up a National Climate Change Mitigation Authority for meeting the aspirational climate related targets to be achieved by 2020;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the modalities for the Constitution of such a body been worked out, if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the time by which the final decision is likely to be taken by the Government in the matter?

(a)to (d) An Institutional mechanism consisting of Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change at the national level functions to coordinate national action to assessment, adaptation and mitigation of climate change. The Council is composed of key representatives from academia, industry, media and civil society.
