ISSUANCE OF CASTE CERTIFICATE TO MAJHWAR GROUP
1547. SHRI PRAVEEN KUMAR NISHAD:
Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the reasons for not issuing reservation caste certificate to Majhwar group though they are given reservation since 1950; and
(b) whether the conditions of above groups are very pathetic as per the Government and if so, the time by which they will get this Constitutional Right?

(a) & (b): Majhwar caste is notified as a Scheduled Caste in the States of Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand since 1950 and 2000 respectively without any synonym/sub-caste. Members of this community are entitled to Scheduled Castes certificates and consequential benefits such as reservation. The subject of issuance and verification of castes certificates rests with the concerned State Governments/U.T. Administrations.
