(a) whether most of the airports are under utilisation in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof; airport-wise;
(c) the passenger handling capacity and cargo tariff of each airport;
(d) the actual passenger and cargo tariff handled by each airport during the last three years, year-wise; and
(e) the steps proposed to be taken by the Government for the maximum utilisation of airports?

(a) :- The extent of utilization of airport varies from airport to airport depending upon the traffic and time when the capacity was created. Normally, an airport has to cater to the future traffic growth as well after commissioning. Due to long gestation period of airport projects, idle capacity is in-built in the airport system.
(b), (c) and (d) : Information regarding the Annual Passenger Handling capacity, actual passenger traffic and cargo handled at each of the 45 major airports is annexed.
(e) :- Capacity Utilisation of airports depends upon the traffic demand and commercial viability of operations of airlines. Government has taken steps to promote operation of small aircraft which are more suitable for large number of smaller airports. Alliance Air is planning to induct 50-seater aircraft in its fleet. It will enable operation of more flights to smaller airports thereby enhancing the utilization of such airports.
