Question : Deployment of Ambulance and Patrolling Vehicles on NHs

(a) Whether the Government has made it mandatory for every road developer to deploy an ambulance and a patrolling vehicle at a gap of every 45 kilometers on National Highways (NHs) to take the victims of road accidents to the nearest medical aid center;

(b) If so, the details thereof;

(c) Whether the Government has received complaints against road developers regarding deployment of ambulances and patrolling vehicles during the last three years and the current year; and

(d) If so, the details thereof along with the action taken by the Government thereon?

Answer given by the minister

(a) to (b) As part of incident management under operation and maintenance of the NH stretches, Highway ambulances and Patrolling vehicles are deployed in their respective service area to extend assistance in case of any emergency on National Highways.
(c) to (d) Road users generally register all their highway related complaints through 1033 helpline number and the same are duly addressed by the corresponding Regional Offices and Project Implementation Unit of NHAI and are resolved at local level itself.
