Question : WORLD BANK LOAN FOR A.P



(a) whether India has signed an agreement with World Bank for $108 million credit (equivalent to Rs. 531.36 crores) for the Andhra Pradesh Community Forest Management;

(b) if so, the number and names of districts of Andhra Pradesh where this amount is likely to be utilised; (

(c) when the work on these projects is likely to commence; and

(d) the other details in this regard ?

(a) Yes, Sir.

(b) Project covers 14 districts viz. Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Nizamabad, Medak, Mahaboobnagar, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, Nellore, Chittoor and Cuddapah.

(c) The work on Project has already commenced.

(d) The project development objective is to reduce rural poverty through improved forest management with community participation. It has three main components namely creation of enabling environment for Community Forest Management, Forest Management and Community Development.

The credit has been given on standard IDA terms.
