(a) the salient features of the scheme and the current status of its implementation in the country;
(b) the total number of students that have received skill training under the program since its inception, State/UT wise;
(c) the total number of Trainer and Assessor academies that have been set up under the program, State/UT wise;
(d) the sectors and areas in which training is imparted to students and whether opportunities exist for placement after the training process?
(a) to (d) National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship(MSDE), is implementing a training program for the professional development of Skill Trainers and Assessors in the short-term skill eco-system.This program is for the development of professionals who are already associated/ employed with Training Providers. Some of the salient features of the program are as follows:
i. The Training of Trainers(ToT) and Training of Assessors (TOA) programs are implemented through the Sector Skill Councils(SSCs) for their respective job role requirements at dedicated To centres/ Trainer-Assessor Academies/ Center of Excellence.
ii. Eligibility of Trainers and Assessors is aligned with the qualification requirements.
iii. The training program covers orientation and assessment on the domain and platform skills/assessment skills for trainers and assessors respectively.
iv. The training curriculum for ToTand TOA programs is based on the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), aligned qualifications.
v. Trainers and Assessors are offered two certifications – Basic certification with validity of 2 years and Advanced Certification with longer validity.
vi. Takshashila, a dedicated technology platform has been developed for ease of operations, and for ensuring transparency and minimizing information asymmetry amongst stakeholders.
Under this program, the total number of Trainers certified so far is 50,689 and total number of Assessors certified so far is 32,302. The state-wise number of Trainers and Assessors certified is at Annexure-I.Six Trainer and Assessor Academies have been set up, one each in the States of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
In addition, Directorate General of Training, under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is inter-alia implementing the Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) all over India through 33 National Skill Training Institutes(NSTIs),out of which 19 are exclusively for women. The number of trainees who have received skill training received by the trainees in last 10 years and during 2020-21(State wise) is at Annexure –II. The sectors and areas in which training is imparted to the trainees under CITS is at Annexure – III. After completion of CITS Training, the trained individuals can be employed as Crafts Instructor in Industrial Training Institutes in their corresponding trades/sectors and also can join the industry as Technician.
