Question : Area under PMKSY-PDMC

(a) the total area covered by micro-irrigation under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana-Per Drop More Crop (PMKSY-PDMC) for the State of Rajasthan, district-wise;

(b) whether any steps have been taken to encourage public private-partnership under the scheme, if so, details thereof and their results;

(c) whether there have been improvements in the groundwater levels of States and districts under the scheme, if so, the details thereof, State-wise and district-wise including Rajasthan; and

(d) whether any focused steps have been taken to encourage micro-irrigation in districts with exploited levels of groundwater, if so, the details thereof, State-wise and district-wise including Rajasthan?

(a): The Per Drop More Crop component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY-PDMC) scheme is operational in the country, including Rajasthan, from 2015-16 and an area of 3.61 lakh ha has been covered under Micro Irrigation in the State of Rajasthan so far. District-wise details are at Annexure-I.
(b): A Micro Irrigation Fund (MIF) with corpus of Rs. 5000 Crore has been created with NABARD during 2018-19 to facilitate the States in mobilizing the resources to provide top up/ additional incentives to farmers for incentivising micro irrigation beyond the assistance available under PMKSY-PDMC. States may also access MIF exclusively for innovative integrated projects depending on State specific requirements, including Public Private Partnership for enhancing Micro Irrigation coverage.

(c): As per the analysis of long term ground water level data generated by Central Ground Water Board(CGWB), Ministry of Jal Shaktihas indicated that about 62% of the wells monitored have registered rise in ground water level in the country as a whole. The details of the study is given at Annexure-II.The increase in ground water level in the country including Rajasthan is due to various reasons including variation in rainfall pattern, Interventions by the Central and State Governments through various schemes such as Watershed Development component of PMKSY, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, PMKSY-Per Drop More Crop etc.

(d): The guidelines for PMKSY- PDMC envisage promotion of Micro Irrigation in areas with exploited levels of ground water in the country. Under the PMKSY-PDMC a total area of 59.37 lakh ha.has been covered under Micro Irrigation in the country under PMKSY-PDMC till date. The state-wise details of area covered under Micro Irrigation, including areas with exploited levels of ground water are given at Annexure-III. The district-wise details are available at web portal www.pmksy.gov.in.
