Question : Piped Water Supply to Villages under SAGY

(a) the present status of providing piped water supply to all the villages covered under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) in the country, State/UT-wise;

(b) whether piped water supply has not been provided so far to all the villages covered under SAGY even after the completion of its first phase and if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the details of the alternative scheme of the Government, if any, to provide piped water supply to the villages covered under the said scheme?

(a) & (b) : Under the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana framework, the development of Gram Panchayats has been envisaged through the convergence and implementation of existing Government Schemes and Programmes under the administrative control of respective Ministries. Piped Water Supply (PWS) is provided to the SAGY villages under the central scheme of National Rural Drinking Water Programme of Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation as well as respective State/UT schemes. The State/ UT-wise details of habitations in villages under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) covered with piped water supply, as on 24.07.2017 is at Annexure-I. The State/ UT-wise details of the habitations in villages under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) covered with alternate sources of water supply, as on 24.07.2017 is at Annexure-II.

(c) : The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation under its centrally sponsored scheme, National Rural Drinking Water Programme has prepared a strategic plan for providing piped water supply in rural areas.
