Question : Development of Cities

Will the Minister of URBAN DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state :
(a) Whether the Union Government has details regarding development of cities of the country where the Union Government has provided assistance under centrally sponsored scheme;
(b) If so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor along with the reaction of the Government thereto;
(c) The manner in which review of development work of cities is conducted in the absence of the said data; and
(d) The corrective steps taken/being taken by the Government in the regard?

(a)&b): The Government of India provides central assistance to the States for implementing projects for the development of cities under various schemes and as per their guidelines. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) preparation and project implementation etc are done by the States. The GoI keeps record of funds sanctioned and released to the various State Governments and gets regular progress reports from States. The details regarding project execution lies with State Governments.
c)&d): The GoI reviews the progress of projects sanctioned for various States through periodical reports and review meeting with the State Government Officials.
