Question : Climate Change Impact

(a) whether scientists working at Institute, CSIR-NGRI, had submitted two work packages in project "Vulnerability Assessment and Development of Adaptation Strategies for Climate Change impact with special reference to coastal and island ecosystems of India (VACCIN);
(b) if so, the funds allocated to the Institute for the said purpose;
(c) whether the aforesaid funds have been utilised and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) Yes, Madam.
(b) An amount of Rs.170.8 lakh was allocated to CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI) for the project, “Vulnerability assessment and development of adaptation strategies for climate change impact with special reference to coasts and Island ecosystems of India (VACCIN)".
(c) No, Madam.
(d) The Principal Investigators proposed to participate from CSIR-NGRI in the project under reference had superannuated from service. Further evaluation at CSIR-NGRI indicated that it required data for few years and work envisaged could not be completed within the identified project duration.
