Question : GOVERNMENT SERVANT`S STATUS TO UNIT RUN CANTEEN EMPLOYEES



(a) whether the Government has completed wide ranging discussions on the implementation of the Supreme Court’s judgment dated January 4, 2001 wherein the Apex Court has given Government servant’s status to Unit Run Canteen Employees;

(b) whether the Government was also directed to frame service rules for them within six months from the date of judgment;

(c) if so, the action taken by the Government thereon; and

(d) the time by which the Government intends to issue notification in this regard?

(a) The Government has implemented the Supreme Court’s judgement dated January 4, 2001.

(b) The Supreme Court directed the Government to determine the service conditions of the employees in the Unit-Run-Canteens at an early date, preferably within six months from the date of judgement.

(c) The Government has already framed and issued the rules regulating the terms and conditions of service of civilian employees of Unit-run-canteen paid out of non public fund.

(d) Does not arise, in view of (c) above.
