Question : Habitats Connected under PMGSY-III in Jharkhand

(a) the number of habitats connected so far under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) III in the country, along with the district-wise details in respect of the State of Jharkhand;

(b) the number of proposals received for building/upgrading roads and Long Span Bridge (LSB) under PMGSY-III in the State of Jharkhand especially in Bokaro, Dhanbad and Giridih districts; and

(c) the number of roads sanctioned and the number of roads completed under PMGSY-III in the State of Jharkhand?

(a) The Government of India has on 10th July, 2019 approved Phase-III of PMGSY with an aim to consolidate 1,25,000 km Through Routes and Major Rural Links connecting habitations, inter-alia to Gramin Agricultural Markets (GrAMs), Higher Secondary School and Hospitals at an estimated cost of Rs 80,250 crore (Central Share- Rs. 53,800 crore, State Share- Rs. 26,450 crore). Connectivity of unconnected habitations is not an objective of PMGSY-III.

However, Government of India had launched Pradhan Mantri Gram SadakYojana (PMGSY) on 25th December 2000 for providing connectivity by way of all weather road to the eligible unconnected habitations as per core-network. About 99% eligible habitations in the country have already been provided connectivity as on date under PMGSY-I

In the State of Jharkhand, out of the total target to connect 10,939 eligible habitations, 10,935 habitations have already been connected as on date.

The district-wise details of habitations connected in the State of Jharkhand since inception till 28.07.2021 is given at Annexure-I.

(b) The State of Jharkhand has been allocated target of 4125 km under PMGSY-III. State has submitted first proposal of 114 roads works of length of 1054 km to the Ministry.

(c) So far no road works have been sanctioned and completed under PMGSY-III in the State of Jharkhand.
