Question : New Medical Colleges under Centrally Sponsored Scheme

(a) the details of new medical colleges approved under Centrally Sponsored Scheme during the last three years, State/UT-wise including West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh;
(b) the number of proposals received under Centrally Sponsored Scheme during the last three years, State/UT-wise including West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh;
(c) the details of funds allocated for development of health infrastructure in rural areas of the country during 2021-22, State/UT-wise; and
(d) the details of funds allocated, released and utilised during the last three years for development of health infrastructure in the country, State/UT-wise?

(a) to (d) The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare administers a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for ‘Establishment of new Medical Colleges attached with existing district/referral hospitals’ with preference to underserved areas and aspirational districts, where there is no existing Government or private medical college. During the last three years, 101 medical colleges have been approved under the said Scheme including 01 in West Bengal, 01 in Maharashtra, 06 in Madhya Pradesh and 14 in Uttar Pradesh.
Under Phase-III of the above Centrally Sponsored Scheme (launched in August 2019), all States/UTs were requested to submit proposals along with Detailed Project Report (DPR) for consideration by the Ministry. A total of 102 proposals were received from various States including 01 from West Bengal, 02 from Maharashtra, 11 from Madhya Pradesh and 14 from Uttar Pradesh.
The details of fund allocated for development of health and infrastructure for various States including those in rural areas is as per Annexure-I.
