Question : Promotion of Ayurvedic System of Medicine

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has formulated any steps to promote Ayurvedic System of Medicine;

(b) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(c) whether the Government has setup any Ayurvedic diagnostic centres or initiatied Ayurvedic treatment in the existing hospitals/diagnostic centres during the last one year and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (b): Yes. The Government has been taking several steps to promote Ayurveda System of Medicine which inter-alia includes setting up of Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Medicine (CCRAS) and Ayurvedic National Institutes in different parts of the country, integration of AYUSH with modern system of Medicine, signing of MOUs with Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Defence, mainstreaming of AYUSH including Ayurveda by establishing Health and Wellness centres under Ayushman Bharat Yojana etc.


(c): The following Ayurvedic National Institutes are having attached hospitals to provide health care facilities to the public.
(i) National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur.
(ii) All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi.
(iii) Institute of Post Graduate Teaching and Research in Ayurveda, Jamnagar.
(iv) North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy, Shillong.
