(c) whether Area Welfare Officers are categorized as Central Government servants;

(e) the manner in which the action is contemplated in the regulations in the event of Area Welfare Officer not performing his duties and responsibilities?

(a) to (d): Area Welfare Officers are nominated for residential colonies to look after the welfare and related problems of the Central Govt. employees and their families. It is not an appointment under the Govt. of India and is only a functional arrangement to provide a link between the Central Govt. employees residing in various colonies and the concerned civic and other agencies providing service to them. The Area Welfare Officers function on honorary and voluntary basis

(e): Area Welfare Officers are nominated for 2 years. In case of specific allegations against them, the Govt. may consider withdrawing their nominations.
