Question : Special Accelerated Road Development Programme in North East (SARDP-NE)

(a) the details of funds allocated, sanctioned and released under the “Special Accelerated Road Development Programme in North East (SARDP-NE)”, State-wise and phase-wise;

(b) the details of projects identified under the scheme along with the present status thereof; and

(c) whether the Government is planning to discontinue the said scheme if so, the reasons therefor?

(a) Rs 3,640 crore has been allocated for SARDP-NE works (including Arunachal Pradesh Package of SARDP-NE) in the North Eastern states out of which an expenditure of Rs. 3314 crore has been incurred during financial year 2020-21. SARDP-NE works in a length of 285 km for Rs. 5020 crore have been sanctioned during 2020-21.

(b) Government of India has given approval for 2/4 laning of 6418 km of various categories of roads under Phase ‘A’ and Arunachal Pradesh of SARDP-NE in North East at an estimated investment of about Rs. 30,450 crore. Apart from the above Government of India has also given approval for preparation of detailed project report for 3723 km of roads under Phase ‘B’ of SARDP-NE. Details of projects completed, ongoing and yet to be awarded under SARDP-NE Phase-A and Arunachal Pradesh Package of SARDP-NE are placed at Annexure-A, Annexure-B and Annexure-C respectively. Details of projects identified under Phase-B of SARDP-NE is placed at Annexure-D.

(c) There is no such plan to discontinue the SARDP-NE scheme.
