Question : OFFICERS SENT ABROAD FOR TRAINING IN FOREIGN INSTITUTES



(a) whether the Government nominates officers for training in some reputed foreign Institutions in order to improving their academic, managerial, administrative and technical capabilities in the field of General/Public Administration and MBA courses at the cost of the public exchequer;

(b) if so, the details of the Officers sent abroad for both the short term and long term training courses during the last three years;

(c) the number of officers belonging to the SC/ST categories among such officers sent abroad for the said training abroad; and

(d) the reasons for not nominating the adequate number of SCs/STs Officers for the said training?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF POWER ( SHRIMATI JAYAWANTI MEHTA )

(a) to (d): The officers under the Ministry of Power are nominated to foreign training courses under the Technical Co-operation Programmes such as Colombo Plan, US AID and also to programmes sponsored by other international agencies. Under these programmes, training costs are borne mostly by the international agencies and in some cases international travel costs are borne by the Government/Central Public Sector Undertakings of the Ministry of Power.

75 officers from the Ministry, the Central Electricity Authority, and the Central Public Sector Undertakings of the Ministry of Power have been deputed for foreign training during the last three years. Out of these, three are SC/ST officers.
