(a): The Government have been implementing various schemes for the development
of horticulture sector as well as fisheries sector in the country. The list of these
schemes are given in Annexure I. All the schemes in the horticulture sector except
Technology Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture in the North Eastern
States including Sikkim and Integrated Development of Horticulture in Tribal/Hilly Areas
were implemented in Maharashtra also. In the fisheries sector, all the schemes except
the scheme on Training and Extension were implemented in Maharashtra.
(b): The State-wise details of funds released to various State Governments for
promoting horticulture during the last three years including funds released under Macro
Management Scheme during 2001-02 under which horticultural development
programmes were also taken up is given in Annexure II. Similarly, the State-wise funds
released under different schemes of fisheries sector is given in Annexure III.
(c) & (d) Yes Sir. Innovative techniques on horticulture are being developed by the
Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) through their Research Institutes and All
India Coordinated Research Projects (AICRP). These include development of hybrids &
improved varieties, agro-techniques and post harvest management techniques. In the
fisheries sector also, new techniques are being developed through Research Institutes
located in different parts of the country. The technologies thus developed are
disseminated to the farmers/fishermen through demonstrations, training programmes,
awareness campaigns, distribution of technical literature etc. under the on-going
schemes.
(e) The details of assistance provided by the National Horticulture Board (NHB) to fruit
and flower growers under their Scheme on Development of Commercial Horticulture
through Production and Post Harvest Management are given in Annexure IV.
(f) The details of projects sanctioned by the NHB for Tamil Nadu during the period 2000
-2002 are given in Annexure V. These schemes were launched during May 2000.
Assistance has been provided to the beneficiaries as back-ended subsidy only after
conducting joint inspection and ascertaining successful completion of the projects.

Out of the above, the first nine schemes have been subsumed under the
Centrally Sponsored Scheme on Macro Management in Agriculture
Supplementation/Complementation of State Efforts through Work Plans with effect from
October, 2000. Under these schemes, the State Governments can prioritize their
activities as per their felt needs and requirements.
