Question : FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO THE RESEARCH SCHOLARS



(a) whether the Government has been extending financial grant to the research scholars of Universities and Organisations;

(b) if so, the details of the grants sanctioned during the last two years; and

(c) the achievements made by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c): Yes Sir. Developing and nurturing of human resource in Science & Technology has always been on top of the Government’s agenda. A number of schemes have been initiated to attract research scholars namely Young Scientists/ Women Scientists Fellowships; Swarnajayanthi Fellowships and J.C. Bose & Ramanujam Fellowships for practicing scientists, Junior/Senior Research Fellowships, Research Associateship etc. The Government has sanctioned approximately Rs. 380 crore for the last two years. Several impressive results including publications in high impact journals, patents, human resource development, etc. have been emanated from the research investment. The support ensures the strengthening and retaining of talent within the country.
