Question : HOUSES FOR THE POOR



(a) the schemes being run by the Government to make houses available to the poor;

(b) the number of the applications received and the houses made available under the said schemes during the last three years, State-wise;

(c) whether the Government proposes to increase the number of houses in proportion to the demand during the coming years; and

(d) if so, the details thereof, State-wise?

(a): The Schemes being run by the Government to make houses available to the urban poor include Basic Services to Urban Poor (BSUP) and Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme(IHSDP). These schemes are part of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) launched on 3rd December, 2005. Mission period is seven years i.e. 2005-2012.

(b): State-wise details of number of projects and houses approved under BSUP and IHSDP during last three years are annexed.

(c)&(d): The question of increase in the number of houses during the coming years will depend on the progress of BSUP and IHSDP achieved in pursuance of Mid-term targets fixed for State Governments to be achieved before 30.09.2009.
