MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF TEXTILES(SMT. PANABAAKA LAKSHMI)

(a): No, Madam. There is no plan approved to set up more mills of National Textile Corporation (NTC) in the country.

(b): Does not arise in view of (a) above.

(c) & (d): A Techno-economic viability study was done by Textile Research Associations (TRAs). Based on the study, Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) approved the scheme for revival of NTC Ltd. in the year 2002, which has been modified in the years 2006 and 2008. The scheme is self-financing and envisages closure of unviable mills and revival of viable mills from the funds generated through sale of surplus land and assets of the company.
