It is, however, up to the airlines to provide air services to specific places depending upon the traffic demand and commercial viability while complying with Route Dispersal Guidelines.
For the enhancement of international connectivity, during the past year, the Government has received requests from State Governments of Andhra Pradesh, Tripura, Punjab and Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar from the airport located in their respective territories. As far as Indian carriers are concerned, they are free to mount services from any point in India to the foreign destination as per the bilateral air services arrangements with the respective foreign country. However, actual operation by any airline is always guided by its commercial judgement.
