Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
(DR. MAHENDRA NATH PANDEY)
(a) to (e) : Yes, Madam. With a view to prevent impersonation and ensure fair
practice, the Joint Apex Board (JAB) which oversees conduct of JEE(Main) exam
has decided to make use of Aadhaar number for JEE (Main) exam 2017.
All students from the States of Assam, Meghalaya and Jammu & Kashmir, where
Aadhaar coverage is low, can use passport number, ration card number, bank
account number or any other valid Govt. identity number instead of Aadhaar
number.
The CBSE which conducts the exam is also facilitating students who may not have
enrolled for Aadhaar to enroll at the nearest enrolment centre and can use 28 digit
code printed on the Aadhaar Enrolment slip for applying for JEE exam.
