Question : REVIVAL OF HSCL



(a)Whether the Government proposes to revive Hindustan Steel Construction Limited (HSCL) ;

(b) If so, the details thereof ;

(c)Whether the wages have been paid to the employees of all the units of HSCL;

(d) If not the reasons therefor; and

(e) The time by which the employees are likely to be paid their dues ?

(a)&(b) : Government has submitted a restructuring proposal of Hindustan Steelworks Construction Limited (HSCL) to Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises

(BRPSE). The restructuring proposal contains options for



(i) revival of all business

(ii) revival of select business and

(iii) complete closure by the year 2007-08; and

(iv) continuance of the existing business on `as is` basis.

(c)to(e): Due to adverse financial condition of HSCL, the company could not pay outstanding salaries/wages to its employees of different units. HSCL has been paying regular monthly salaries/wages after August, 2005 in all the units of company. Government has decided to pay the outstanding wages/salaries due upto 30.6.2006 to the employees of HSCL through necessary re-appropriation.
