(a) whether he has recently visited Siliguri and Jalpaiguri of West Bengal to consider
a Circuit Bench of Calcutta High Court;
(b) if so, the recommendations of the Calcutta High Court and the State Government in
this regard; and
(c) the observations of his Ministry in this regard?

(a) to (c) Yes, Sir. The former Minister had visited Siliguri and Jalpaiguri in the
context of the setting up of a Circuit Bench of the Calcutta High Court. Views of the State
Government and the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court were sought in the context of the
visit of the former Minister. Views of the State Government have been received. However,
the views of the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court are awaited. The Union Government
will formulate its views after the receipt of the views of the Chief Justice of the Calcutta
High Court.
