Question : ARRIVAL OF FOREIGN TOURISTS

(a) whether a large number of tourists from Europe, USA and other Asian countries have been visiting India mainly for their dental care;

(b) if so, the details thereof stating the number of such tourists who have visited this country during the current year, the number of hotel bookings alongwith foreign exchange earned therefrom; and

(c) the steps taken by the Government to provide important multi-media information to the prospective tourists through foreign diplomatic missions to attract maximum number of foreign tourists?

(a) and (b): Information with regard to number of tourists, their hotel bookings and the foreign exchange spent by them in respect of the foreign tourists coming to India for the specific purpose of dental care is not compiled.

(c): The various steps taken to attract more foreign tourists to the country include advertisement and promotion campaigns through the Web-site of the Department of Tourism and Multi-media CD ROM’s which are distributed through the Indian missions and Indiatourism offices overseas.
