(a) whether the Government has prepared any scheme/policy to encourage the use of bio-fertilizers by the farmers;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the percentage increase registered in the use of bio-fertilizers under the said schemes, during the last three years and the current year; and
(c) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to promote use of organic/ bio-fertilizers in the country?

(a): Government is promoting bio-fertilizers under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA). 100% financial assistance to State Govt./ Govt. Agencies upto a maximum limit of Rs.160.00 lakh/ unit for 200 TPA or 50000 LPA production and 25% of financial outlay subject to a maximum ceiling of Rs.40.00 lakhs for biofertiliser production unit, is provided as back-ended subsidy through NABARD to individuals/private agencies.
(b): An increase of 16.15%, 39.90% and 29.33% has been witnessed in production and use of bio-fertilizers during the last three years i.e. starting from 2011-12 to 14-15. State –wise details are given at Annexure – I.
(c): To promote the use of organic/ bio-fertilizers in the country Government is providing financial assistance under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA). Details of pattern of assistance is given at Annexure – II.
